Last Splash for Frat Beach 🎉

This Friday marks the end of an era — at least for now. The annual Frat Beach gathering on St. Simons Island, the legendary pre-party to the Georgia–Florida football game, will take a two-year hiatus as renovations begin at Jacksonville’s EverBank Stadium.

Each year, thousands of University of Georgia students — often decked out in costumes, glitter, and fanny packs — descend on East Beach for a day of spirited revelry and sand-covered celebration. Local business owners like Jepter Butler, of Iguanas Seafood Restaurant, call it “the best weekend of the year,” citing the boost it brings to island hospitality.

But this year’s festivities, set for Friday, October 31, come with some changes. Parking near the old Coast Guard station will be limited due to an ongoing renovation project, and high tide around 4:40 p.m. means the county will begin clearing the beach earlier than usual. Portable restrooms will remain available, and local law enforcement, emergency services, and first-aid teams will be on hand to keep things safe.

As always, Keep Golden Isles Beautiful will help restore the beach the morning after, organizing volunteers for a community cleanup on Saturday.

After this weekend, Frat Beach will pause until at least 2028 — when the Georgia–Florida game returns to Jacksonville. Until then, this year’s crowd plans to make it one to remember.

Volunteers Needed for Pre-PorchFest Cleanup 🧹

Brunswick PorchFest organizers are calling for volunteers to help spruce up Old Town ahead of this year’s big event! Join the crew Saturday, November 1 at 10 AM at the old tennis court slab across from Brunswick Manor (825 Egmont Street).

All cleanup supplies will be provided — just bring your good vibes and helping hands as the community gets ready to shine for PorchFest 2025.
