🏛️ Big News from Jekyll Island’s Historic District!

Jekyll Island just gave one of its most iconic streets a fresh new look. After nearly two years in the making, Pier Road has been transformed into The District Shops — a thoughtfully revitalized shopping and dining destination in the heart of the island’s National Historic Landmark District.

State dignitaries, including Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper, recently cut the ribbon to mark the grand opening, celebrating the reimagining of this historic hub. The District Shops now feature eight new places where visitors and locals alike can shop, sip, and savor island life. 🌴

Here’s a peek at what’s new:

• 31•81 Lifestyle Shop — Coastal-inspired finds and popular brands like Southern Tide and Lilly Pulitzer.

• Founder’s Social Beer Garden — Casual eats and Georgia craft brews under the shade.

• Georgia Grown Signature Shoppe — A collaboration with the Georgia Department of Agriculture, spotlighting locally sourced goods.

• J.P. & Company — Step back in time with Gilded Age portrait experiences.

• Jekyll Island Sweets — Old-fashioned candies, handmade treats, and ice cream.

• North Pole South — Year-round holiday magic with coastal-themed gifts and ornaments.

• Pier Road Outfitters — Gear up for island adventures from beach lounging to biking.

• Wake Up Coffee Co. — Locally beloved coffee and fresh-baked goodies.

Jekyll Island Authority officials shared that the project carefully preserved the district’s historic character while bringing in fresh, vibrant concepts. The opening celebration featured food trucks, live music, games, and family-friendly fun — with Wake Up Coffee, Jekyll Island Sweets, and Founder’s Social leading the charge as new private vendors.

As JIA Executive Director Mark Williams put it: "This project reflects our commitment to honoring Jekyll Island’s past while creating a space that invites connection and discovery for generations to come."
