Hometown Headlines 🏝️

🏝️ Indigo Coastal Shanty Reopens — Jonesin’ No More!

After a brief remodeling break, Indigo Coastal Shanty has swung its doors open again, showing off the first phase of its fresh new look — and yes, the ceiling sails are still catching all the right vibes.

Brunswick can finally rest easy (and hungry no more): the pimiento burgers are sizzling, the Shanty Blue salads are crisp, and the chili rellenos are back to fulfilling their sacred duty. Feels good to have this neighborhood favorite humming again.

🏗️ Big Move for Brunswick: GIDA Buys 250+ Acres for Future Industry

The Golden Isles Development Authority just made a major play for the region’s economic future — announcing the purchase of more than 250 acres off U.S. 82 near the I-95 Exit 29 interchange.

With industrial land in short supply, this new site fills a long-standing gap in Glynn County’s portfolio, giving officials room to court businesses that don’t need rail lines, runways, or interstate frontage — just solid ground and strong connections.

“We’ve already shown the site to several active projects,” said GIDA president and CEO Ryan Moore. Engineering and prep work are already underway, with shovel-ready status expected within a year.

In other updates, the authority discussed a potential study for new airport-adjacent development (think aircraft maintenance or business aviation), plans for a local revolving loan fund to help small businesses grow, and ongoing talks with the FAA about proposed military airspace changes near Townsend Bombing Range.

Looks like Brunswick’s growth engine just got a fresh tank of gas.
